A Joke!

Harrison made his first play-on-words joke last night! He had fallen down and scraped his knees, so Dada said they'd put Bactine on it. Harrison says, "No, no -- Bactine hurts. I want Fron-tine."

What a jokester! :) Or, as the jokester himself used to say, "Dat's punny!" (meaning "That's funny!").

The Boys and Their Sticks : Out For A Walk / Drag

Mama suggested a walk; Mama did not suggest that she pull two heavy boys and the drag-inducing sticks they snagged along the way. Poor, tired Mama!

The Boys Meet Cousin Mallory

Chris and the boys and I packed it up and headed over to Augusta for the weekend to check-in on our gal Mal (she's doing just fine -- Katy, Brian, Grandmama, Grandaddy, and Mallory's other grandparents have tended to her just fine since we last saw her 4 days ago). Thank you to Ms. Leslie and Mr. Barry (Mallory's "other grandparents") for sharing their house with us -- the boys had so much fun with all of your stuff!

Hewitt was mildly interested in his cousin, and Harrison thought she was straight awesome! Sweet Hew wanted to let Mallory suck on his finger (which was intercepted by every adult in the room), and sweet Harrison made sure that we all knew when Mallory was awake and when she was asleep. Then they both took off for the room with the treadmill and exercise equipment -- their favorite room at Aunt Katy and Uncle Brian's house. :)

Mallory's dad doesn't quite trust Harrison to keep Mallory's head on her body (I don't blame him).
Also, Hewitt : "Mom, does this angle make my thighs look roll-y?"

Hewitt at 15 Months

(Well, almost 16 months, really -- took a while to remember to schedule the appointment!)

The stats...

  • Weight -- 27 pounds (93rd percentile)

  • Height -- 31 inches (51st percentile)

Cousin Mallory is Born!!

Mallory Brynn was born at 2:29pm today -- 6 pounds, 15 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. Parents Katy (Chris' sister) and Brian will forevermore be known as "Mallory's parents."

Hewitt had no reaction to Katy's growing belly or the news of the baby's arrival (hasn't actually seen baby Mallory yet, so maybe that will catch his interest), but Harrison is pumped. When we first started talking to Harrison about Mallory a few months ago, he was very interested in having a cousin, but he insisted that Mallory would be his (Harrison's) cousin and not Hewitt's. Then he agreed that Mallory could be both of their cousins. The next hump was recognizing that they would both be Mallory's cousins (Harrison wanted the one-way street of having a cousin but not being a cousin). I think we're past that now, too. :) The H's first looks at their first cousin will be this weekend!

Chris and I drove to Augusta see baby Mallory the day she was born and came back late that night. In the morning, Chris told Harrison, "Your cousin Mallory is here!" Harrison said, "She is?!" So I clarified with, "Well, she is not at your house. She is in Augusta with Katy and Brian."

Happy birthday to Mallory -- we're so glad you're here! And congratulations to Mallory's parents -- we're glad you're here, too!

The Single-Mindedness of a Three-Year Old : Possession and Ownership

Harrison recently heard the term "I take full responsibility for that." His little ears heard the word "take," so he ran over to Hewitt, made a snatching motion at him, and declared, "I took Hewitt's 'ponsibility!"

Then later Chris said, "Harrison, can I have your attention, please?" Harrison said, "No, Dada it is my attention. You cannot have it. I will take your attention!"
