Hewitt at Nine Months

The stats...
  • Weight -- 22 pounds, 4 ounces (as huge as that is, he's down to 78th percentile -- practically a runt!)
  • Height -- 30 inches (85th percentile)
The updates...
  • He talks -- Harrison likes to squeal outside (we've told him forever that squealing is an outside sound, not an inside sound, so when we go outside, we really let loose with the squealing). Now when Harrison "gweals" outside, Hewitt answers him! Then he looks at me and at Harrison shyly like, "Was that what I was supposed to do?" and then does a huge smile when one of us answers him with a "Yes!" squeal. Harrison likes to say, "Mama -- He gwealed!" Sometimes if Hewitt gets too loud in the car, Harrison asks me to put Hewitt's window down so he can squeal out the window. :) ("Mama -- Put Hewitt window down, please. He gweal.")
  • He stands -- I've caught him standing hands-free a few times, but only when he doesn't realize it. For example, if he's standing at his toy box doing an important project with some stuff up on the lid, he might have a thing in each hand and not realize that that means that he doesn't have a hand on the toy box anymore. Oh, my!
  • He walks -- Constantly, but not by himself yet. Everything is a walker -- the stepstools, the Lego boxes, the push toys, the old man across the street's walker (seriously -- we went to take dinner to our neighbor and Hewitt was all about the man's walker). Our neighbor said that Hewitt needed a baby-sized old man walker.

Harrison's Picnic Menu

If you were to attend a picnic hosted by Harrison, you might possibly be served sausage, green beans, honeydew, cilantro, lemonade, cookies, cranberries, and muffins -- that's what Harrison requested when Dada asked him what he'd like to eat at our picnic on Saturday. Since we had none of that on hand, we went with the old standbys of cheese, crackers, carrots, and lunchmeat plus some fresh blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries since we did happen to have those (and they blow honeydew right out of the water!).

Catching Up!

Been swamped for a while but got lots of stuff online just now! I also have several more posts in the works (for events that happened between Christmas and now), so I'll give notice when those old ones get online. Enjoy!

Ew

Guess who found themselves cleaning vomit off a member of their party in the parking lot of a strip club early on a Saturday morning?

Mama and Dada. Hewitt was the culprit (due to congestion, not intoxication). Strip club parking lot was the first chance Dada had to pull over (we were on the questionable part of Piedmont Avenue, so you know...). It was closer to 9am than 3am. And Hewitt then stood in the passport application line at the post office wearing Mama's t-shirt and a knit cap (Mama had a fleece on over a t-shirt, so she donated her bottom layer). Wow.

Now that is parenthood : raw, real, repulsive.

You Have Not Lived Until You've...

...Changed the diaper of a continually-flipping 9-month old while helping an almost-3-year old pee on the big potty while also going potty yourself while trying to keep the almost-3-year old from walking out of the bathroom and thereby leaving the door wide-open and then washing everyone's hands before breezing back into the pet store (our personal indoor zoo, as previously blogged) as if it was nothing.

Hold your applause, please.
